Contact Information for Jacob's Ladder
Jacob’s Ladder at Brookside Farm is a mindfulness-based, residential recovery program for young men, situated in a private and majestic farming community. Peers and clinical partners facilitate healing through multiple modalities, including:
· 12 step programs
· Music and arts programs
· Outdoor recreation excursions
· Facilitated therapy (individual, group and family)
· Farming and sustainability programs
The goal of the Jacob’s Ladder program is to foster an awakening, and authenticity, through the synthesis of the 12-step principles, promoting self-discovery through the deliberate practice of mindfulness, facilitation of expert clinical treatment, and an interactive connection with a working farm environment.
A typical "day on the ladder" includes daily chores, morning and evening meditation, mindful farming, lecture/education, step work, structured free time, 12-step meetings, and Jacob’s Ladder Community Meetings. Once or twice weekly, off site recreation, recreation therapy and individual, group and/or family therapy should be expected.
The Jacob's Ladder community is grounded in the belief that an atmosphere of authentic love, and unconditional positive regard is not simply a cliché, but rather, the curative essence in holistic addiction treatment. Therefore, we emphasize our agrarian, therapeutic model as a means of helping our clients find meaningful and lasting connections with their peers and themselves.
As our residents begin to make a practice of presence in their lives, with the earth, and with each other, they will find they have departed the vortex of substance abuse that has kept them sick and addicted. One might say that the practice of mindfulness-based relapse prevention techniques and a life of addiction recovery are both synonymous and inextricably linked. Our mindfulness based cognitive therapy program at Jacob's Ladder is not simply didactic, or conventionally educational, but it is experiential and guided.
At Jacob's Ladder, 12 step programs are one of many aspects of our substance abuse and addiction treatment program. Residents attend four AA or NA meetings a week and complete step work throughout their experience. All residents receive a copy of The Big Book and Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions on arrival. We offer a full library of addiction recovery content and publications that are assigned throughout their recovery journey.
